Self-Guided Mount Roland Summit Hike – Coming Soon
Experience one of northern Tasmania’s most rewarding summit hikes with a self-guided adventure to Mount Roland, supported by the local expertise of Wild Island Adventure Hire. Coming soon, this fully supported hiking experience will allow walkers to tackle the famous Mount Roland summit with the convenience of organised transfers, quality hiking gear, and food logistics taken care of.
Your adventure begins with a transfer to the base of Mount Roland near the small village of Sheffield, known as the “Town of Murals.” From here, you’ll begin the steady climb through towering eucalypt forest before entering alpine terrain as the track rises toward the summit plateau.
The hike to the summit of Mount Roland is considered one of Tasmania’s classic day hikes. The well-marked trail climbs through lush rainforest and rocky alpine slopes before reaching the expansive summit area. From the top, hikers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views across the fertile farmland of the Kentish region, the rugged peaks of the Great Western Tiers, and on clear days even distant glimpses toward the Cradle Mountain wilderness.
With the Wild Island Adventures self-guided package, everything you need for the hike will be provided. Walkers will receive high-quality hiking equipment including a comfortable day pack, waterproof jacket, and other essential gear suited to Tasmania’s unpredictable mountain weather.
Your food will be transferred to the trail in the morning so you can enjoy a fresh lunch during your hike, and any equipment or food containers will be collected in the afternoon, allowing you to walk comfortably without carrying extra weight.
