What To Expect On Your Transfer

You can have you or your group transferred and picked up to either the beginning of the Walls Of Jerusalem hike, being the Wild Dog Carpark or other locations in the area, such as Lees paddocks or Arms River track which is becoming more popular.

From Launceston, the transfer will take approximately two hours with a stop off at Deloraine for a quick bite and leg stretch before we venture on our way past Mole Creek to the beginning of the Hike.

If you are starting from the Wild Dog Car Park to begin the round circuit, the first hour and a half will be an ascent with some scrambling along the way, leading you to the trapper’s hut of which is a great spot to have a rest, drink and a quick bite if needed. From that point, you will have a further incline for the next 20 minutes or so of which will lead you to a picturesque, easier hike past various smaller lakes, streams, leading you to the Wild Dog Camp Ground. This campground offers 3 segregated sections of timber platforms to place your tent. There are toilets on site and tank water. Some hikers push on through to Dixons Kingdom campsite.

 

Dixon’s kingdom campsite is approximately a 1-hour Hike from the Wild Dog camp Ground with mountains surrounding you along the way, whilst you meander past Wild Dog Creek and Lake Solomon on the much easier going boarded trail.

The hike from Wild Dog Camp Ground to Dixons Kingdom Camp Ground sees you overlooking various lakes with the Walls Of Jerusalem towering over you.

You will pass various side trips as you get closer to Dixons Kingdom, of which many hikers choose to set up camp at Dixons campground and the following day, tackle the side trips, Solomon’s throne and Mount Jerusalem, being among the favourites of many hikers.

Tank Water, Toilets and an ample amount of tent Platforms are available but be sure to book your hike with Parks and Wild Life to ensure you gain a platform.
